It is the turtles in Asia that suffer the most. Of 90 Asian turtle species, 67 are threatened with extinction.' according to the Forth Worth Zoo.
So when 'Saving The Turtles ' Campaign jointly organised by Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa as well as Malaysian Fisheries Department and Penang Nature Tourist Guide Association , took place on June 4th , I was over the moon. The turtle releasing initiative is a meaningful and proactive approach to conserve the wild life in Penang.
It's delightful seeing little baby turtles making their way to the sea on the beach in front of the resort. Uplands students attended the event enthusiastically in support of this initiative. They made 'Turtle Sculptures of out sand' and IB students came in third in their placing. It was charming to witness many young children relishing the sight of the turtles being released and taking part in the various activities like painting turtle fridge magnets etc. It was a great effort by a private organisation to salvage the wildlife in Penang and it deserves all the support it can get. My friends and I were happily watching the whole memorable event and I was proud to be a part of this fantastic experience.

Mr Christian Nanucci , the resident manager of Rasa Sayang Resort said : “We realise that it is crucial for us to conserve nature’s bio-diversity which has been central to the resort’s allure.
As for us IB students, we are greatly appreciative of the good spread provided by the resort. Yumms!
