A pleasant splash at the Lost World of Tambun.

It was a clear and sunny day, a day just to perfect to be sitting down on the couch watching reruns. So I decided to check out the Sunway sub water theme park- Lost World of Tambun to get wet water slides, up close with exotic animals and of course the crucial ingrediant-sunburnt! (kidding).  Tambun Lost World is actually a sister division of the bigger grand Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. It however has gained lots of attention from tourists all over Malaysia and has gained some reputation to its name. The park is about an hour and a half drive from Penang. You take the Ipoh highway all the way to Tambun, once there you won’t miss it. Signs right and left will be guiding you to the water park haven before you know it. The park opens at ten in the morning on weekends and public holidays but later at twelve noon on weekdays. You get to have a good time exploring the site until seven at night but just do not go all the way on a Tuesday, as you will be met with closed gates.

There were a couple of personal favorites of mine such as the Tube Raiders, which is composed of a slide with large tubes that goes pretty fast.  There was also the Jungle Wave Bay that featured nine different kinds of waves and Cliff Racer, which was an adventure speed cart. There is also the exotic Tiger Valley that features three Siberian tigers and even three cubs that were just too cute to be true. At the animal petting zoo, I purchased rabbit food and bird food at the counter before proceeding in. There was a fish farm where one could just catch a fish and put it in a bucket before letting it go. There was also the animal park where we could feed parrots, rabbits, monkeys, iguanas, snakes and even turtles. I then decided to explore further by exploring the swan lake. For couples that are in a more romantic mood, just after the animal petting zoo, you can see a beautiful manmade lake that features paddling vehicles made in a shape of a swan. Not too far from this site was also a caving place which unfortunately turned out to be quite a disappointment as you just sat there and looked at the cave without actually going caving. Nevertheless, it still is a pretty interesting to make a quick pit stop by. After going to all the water parks, I made my way to the land theme park area where they featured theme park rides.

Honestly the rides were not much to be glorified but it is okay if you want to take your children aboard it. There were only two rides there, the pirate ship which is a ride similar to top gun. I went aboard before as they will usually plummet you sky high into the air and do a full degree flip and then reverse the flip another full degree which basically means you are flipping backwards and forwards in a full circle while on a dragon-boat like craft. Tambun Lost World however only gives you about a hundred and fifty degree before going down again which was rather disappointing I must say. The other ride was the carousel which is quite popular in theme parks but that was pretty much it. I would highly recommend the water park, tiger valley, lost world petting zoo and nature wonders but skip the amusement park if you are short of time.

After a long day of fun and adventure, visitors can relax or rejuvenate themselves by soaking in a bathing pool, which is fed by 100% natural spring water from the famous Tambun hot spring nearby. After that I took my clothes from the locker and bid my day farewell before heading back to Penang after yet another merry day at the Lost World of Tambun.
